During the painful years after the death of her eight-year-old daughter in 1991, Karin A. Childs found rare moments of peace while writing.

In 1997, Karin and her husband, Jon, self-published Karin’s first novel, "The Temple of Wisdom," a spiritual fantasy-quest adventure for young readers. The story included themes of loss, grief, and continued love between those who have died and those left on earth. The story also included scenes inspired by descriptions in Emanuel Swedenborg’s "True Christian Religion," a book well-known to Karin and Jon from having been raised in Swedenborgian communities.

"The Temple of Wisdom" was well-received, and this inspired Karin and Jon to produce and distribute more books, cards, and music based on uplifting concepts inspired by Swedenborg's works and the Bible.

Thus Fountain Publishing was born in Rochester, Michigan, where Jon and Karin slowly nurture it along with their four other children that remain on earth.
